ABOUT LANA
Lana Schwartz is a performer, director and producer, who recently starred as Rutka in the world premiere of RUTKA: A New Musical at Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park. She previously played the role at the show's Lincoln Center concert presentations.
She is currently a Sophomore at Harvard University, with dual concentrations in Theater and Economics. Lana attended middle school and high school at the Professional Performing Arts School (PPAS) in New York City.
In 2019, when she was 14 years old, Lana launched the non-profit organization Nxt Generation Theatrics, a theater company run entirely by young artists. The organization was formed in order to create more opportunities to empower teens and to help the next generation gain experience and exposure to the arts by jumping in and managing every aspect of creating a theatrical experience.
Their first production, NEXT TO NORMAL, ran Off-Broadway with sold-out performances in June of 2022, with Lana directing and producing, and with a team of 43 teens. It was followed by VIOLET, which was nominated for 8 BroadwayWorld Off-Broadway Awards. That was followed by FUN HOME, which payed Off-Broadway to sold-out audiences. She and the NGT team are now working on their 2025 MainStage musical SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE. She is so incredibly proud of the entire NGT team.
